Has anyone got any tips on mastering barre chords? I seem to have a problem with my index finger having a groove in it where the finger bends. This always mutes a string because I cannot get enough pressure on at that point.

Move your finger so the grove hit else where.

Eventually this will come naturally and you won't have to think about it. EVERYBODY goes through the same thing in the beginning. Barre chords are a rite of passage for every guitarist. You'll get there...and when you do, you will have made a significant accomplishment!

Keep in mind that your hand muscles need to develop strength also...but you shouldn't have to use strength to overcome the positioning of your finger.

Also over time that part of your index finger will "toughen" up a bit. You'll find you won't have to squeeze as hard compared to when your finger is softer.

Are you barring your index finger on the flat side? If you tilt the finger slightly in the direction of the nut so that its at a slight angle, this area of finger should be able to press the relevant strings.
