So apparently midlife crisis is a guitar. Already done boats, motorcycles, fast cars, and the traditional stuff years ago. Now with fifty looming over the next hill this is what I've decided to do.

I have no music experience at all, but have leared some theory from watching my daughter playing violin, viola, and mandolin over the past 5 years. I want to be able to play stuff with her eventually and figured guitar was the way to go.

I bought an inexpensive Yamaha and am going to start on the lessons today. I like most kinds of music, but have the must interest in learning to play bluegrass, Irish and maybe jazz.

Wish me luck....

Get a tattoo as well. That's what i did, and I've got three now. You can't call it a mid-life crisis until you've had a tattoo. ;-)

That's funny.. I've said the same thing. Even though I've never had music training in my younger years, I've been dabbling in self teaching for years now and finally officially upgraded on this site today. Posted an introduction thread and about how at this point of life I grew my hair longer, bought a road bike and a guitar... I am determined just to enjoy this because I always wanted it, and even though I don't fancy myself a "player"... I've been known to say that if I were stranded on an island with only a few things, that my guitar would be one of them. You gotta love "midlife"...!!! Evelyn :)
