OK, fights are going to break out over this one... Which is the guitar with the best sound and the best value for Hard Rock music and lighter styles as well? I’ve heard WAY TOO MUCH about Les Paul’s and PRS's to be able to choose. I've played both and I am not partial to either in particular. What is so good about these guitars, and what are some better deals for other high quality guitar I may not have looked at yet?

Well, for a pretty damn good tone, good intonation, and VERY good price (I got mine, 1 year used, for $350 from a friend), you can go with an Ibanez Talman. It's a very good guitar if you're on a budget, but I'd suggest maybe getting something a bit more expensive if you're planning on playing professionally.

I would give my opinion on high quality/expensive guitars, but since I'm too poor to have ever owned any guitar over $350, I can't. I'm saving up this summer and I'll buy one, though.

Just for the record I do not like Ibanez guitars. I'm a Les Paul man myself. The other obvious option is a strat. You can cheap crappy one for about £130 (or $80 I think), or you get a decent one for £600 (erm, $350). My translation into $ may not be correct so don't quote me on those prices.

There're about 1 and a 1/2 dollars to a pound... just checked and the current rate is 1 pound = 1.46039 USD

So... crappy Strat ~ $190 and a good strat ~ $875

I don't particularly care for Strats. I've never liked their feel... As for Les Paul's, they play great, but I just can't afford one :)

lol. its ok i got a D+ in math... i like ibanez guitars, but my guitar right now is comparible to an ibanez, RAVEN RP 450, actually a very cool guitar to say the least. I also hate strats, im not a big fan of fender guitars. as a lefty, if im gonna spend a lot of money on a guitar (after i save a little more) then i want to find the best value and the best sound. anyone played a PRS? some people love em, some people hate em, what is your opinion? What other guitars should i look at?

End.

Never played a PRS, n I never want to, ever ever ever.
As you've probably guessed I don't like PRS guitars. Why I hear you ask? Coz a lotta these new rock bands use em, n they just don't look right in a rock band. Although Santana uses them as well.

No, I'm not 12. I just don't like the style of PRS guitars. My previous post when I mentioned Santana sounded like I don't like him. It wasn't supposed to sound like that. I think Santana is ok. But I still don't think PRS guitars are made for making hard rock/metal. It's more of a blues thing.
