Hello everyone,

I am need of some assistance. I am currently searching for my very first Jazz guitar. I have no idea what brands are good and which ones suck so if anyone has any good information I would really appreciate it if you shared it with me. I do not plan to spend over 1000 for my first one but I am well aware that a good one is going to cost me. Also if any has information on a good amp I would appreciate that too.

Hi Kervin
There is a few guitars that jazz player use at this site.

http://www.jazzguitar.be/jazz_guitars.html

Most players would suggest try as many as you can. Basically it how the guitar feels to you and the play-ability. In your price range most modern guitar can be set up for good play-ability. These two point will increase your practice time. The foreign made ones are on par with US made.
Here is a site with a few Jazz sub-genre that you may want research to get an idea of playing technique may need to learn.

I hope you get some more input from other members as I am by no means a guitarist. Just a guitar lover that hacks around with music.

My main guitar is MIM Fender Tele.. Amp is a Vox30vt That would jam at any small jazz club.. if I played Jazz.. if I played anything..

Hagstrom HJ-500 is a nice jazz guitar, thick hollow body.

So after some research and hard looking and trying out instruments. The Hagstrom looks like a cant miss guitar. Thanks for the recommendation.

Check out the Line 6 "Jam" amp, I bought one two years ago and have not seen an amp that will help a new or semi advanced guitar player learn faster. They run about $399.99

Youtube has a number of videos on the Jam. It's crazy all this amp will do.
