Hey!

I'm going to participate in a talent show for fun, but I am unsure if I should play a cover of a song of if I should write some stuff by myself. Im thankful for any of your answers :)

Man rippin' up a sick solo could win it for you.. Not a whole lot of people will hear possible mistakes thats in there :)

You could start off doing a cool riff from a song. you know like, something real catchy and ballsy... Like ''always on the run'' or something. But not somethat that is really known to people, it would seem a bit like an ''everyday thing'' for most people in my oppinion.

Then when you have played it through a couple of times, you could rip up a solo in the same key as the riff as i said in the beginning.
Thats what i would do i think :)

Something like a talent show I think is a good venue to bring out your own material - whether it be a song or some ripping improvised solo. An audience at something like that will be open minded enough I think...sort of like an open mic.

If it's a larger type of talent show and you are trying to win it, you might want to choose something people are familiar with that impresses. People seem to react more positively to the familiar.
