scale finder

on the scale finder is it me or is there something wrong with it.iam sure its me.idk.exp:the d mj scale the root is on 5th fret 5th string stateing thats the root and first note as all notes are numberd,why is it there are three notes on the 6th string to be played before you play ur root.

The scale finder is designed to show all the notes in a scale in one position.

So, even though the root note happens to be on the A string, there are still notes in the scale below that root note. This is true of every scale except E scales, because the lowest note on the guitar is E.

Remember, you don't have to play a scale from root to root. You can start or stop on any note you want.

If you want to isolate only the scale from root to root, then look at the three options at the bottom of the player. Right next to the volume slider, select the option "Play One Octave". Then click the Play button!
