I noticed most guitar players rest the guitar on the right thigh.
If I do that I just can't play right because it feels awkward.
I rest mine on the left thigh and when I play my fingers just seem to fall in place.
Anyone else play like I do?

Yep. Left thigh when sitting. i also use a 4x4 wood block to raise my left leg up a bit, and lower my seat... all so it feels comfortable and so I'm not hunching over the guitar, or bending my wrist at an awkward angle. I'd say just to what feels comfortable. :)

That's how classical players position the guitar. Nothing wrong with it...as Slipin points out, it's whatever feels comfortable.

Myself, the left leg feels awkward when I'm sitting.

Lately though I find myself standing up to play. Probably because I've been practicing with a band a lot where you are standing to play.

When sitting, I use what I call a 'modified classical' position similar to what's described above. I think if I called it 'classical' I'd be hung out to dry. :D I started playing this way 'cause I found that my reach was much better and, as stated above, my posture was improved. It's a more comfortable position for me and that's the point...find what is comfortable. Don't develop bad habits but don't think you must play/hold the guitar in one particular position, either.

As long as I can play then i'm happy.
Really does not matter to me and I think some players don't even know if the guitar is on the right or left until I point it out

Let me hit you all with an advice :)

Strech your muscles around your neck. Im using my right leg aswell. And iv been so hunched over and tensed in my right arm for the 6 years iv been playing, that my Trapezius muscle is raised 2 centimeters on the right side of my neck. So my right shoulder is raised higher than my left. try take a look in the mirror yourself :)
