That's exactly who I was thinking of as an example. He's a beast. Apparently Marty Friedman would show him something really difficult that he had been working on, and Jason would just immediately do it, even better! If he could have kept playing, there's no telling what he would have become. But he was already a legend even at 19 years old.
To me, thinking back when I didn't play guitar, I had always assumed fast sweep picking was the most difficult technique to master, because it sounds much faster than anything else. But now it's starting to look like I'm going to be able to do it. Things are clicking. It's weird, for a few days I won't see any progress, and then one day, out of nowhere, I'm way better at it! Muscle memory almost seems like magic sometimes.
