One other thing to realize is that the better you get, the more you start to understand how muscle memory works. Once you do, it becomes obvious how you should practice certain things. As long as you can imagine what you want to do in your mind, you can do it. You just have to start really f-ing slow at first! And sometimes it sucks. But if you just stick to repetition, it's impossible not to get better. And then it's awesome!
