Say for instance you open a program and it is set to be a '24 channel' board, it's just the same set up but repeated 24 times.
That's nearly it (save for a master volume and a few other things).
After that, each 'channel' of the board is nothing more than a sliding volume knob (fader), an EQ and a way to add audio tricks (effects).
I mean, not to be foolish, people go to college and get degrees in recording, mixing and mastering so there can be a lot to learn but in the simplest terms, it's not much more than our home stereos in the 70's that had a volume knob, Low/Mid/Hi 'tone' knobs....and if you were crazy, you bought and external graphic EQ.
I am a big fan of the Recording Revolution and Graham is super-awesome and presents stuff that is not intimidating at all.
