so since that tragedy has happend,i wish not to speak of it again,or be reminded of it.with that said i just purchased a new marshall DSL15.SHOULD have it sometime next week.i know you may say,why not buy the guitar first, then the amp.well i know what amp i wanted, which is the same one i had,and i loved it great lead tones,go frome metal to blues in one click.now for my guitar there are so many out there, iam a huge fan of paul reed smith guitars, thats were i may end up with, the prs custom 24 usa made,is so much fun to play, bending strings is a breeze, has a great feel to it.i also like ibenez jem ,i like the thorns on the fretboard so thats a possibility too.if i can get my wife to look the other way,i would buy both, cause i eventualy will buy both.i caint have just one axe.i need too refill my room.and iam thinking of the zoom g5,though iam not a big fan of effects other then a certian few,but what it would cost me for a looper, delay pedal, iam better of buyingthe zoom g5.maggior how are you diggin ur zoom g5.

Hey Axe -

Glad to hear you are starting to move on. If you know what you want, it makes sense to buy the amp first. Guitars are so hard to choose - even when you know what you want, you have to pick the particular guitar. Even within a model, each one can feel different.

I really like my Zoom pedal. I bought it for effects, but it turns out that is what I use it for least. I use the looper a lot along with the drum beats. The amp simulations work well too, so I use it to record on my PC. Oh yeah, and it has effects :-). The only ones I really use are chorus, flange, and delay. The tube screamer gets some use too.

I'm bringing it to band practice on Wed. to see how it works in that environment to see if it's up to the task. It will be awesome if it works out because it will make is so much easier for me to move through different tones for different songs.

Cheers!

Hey man thanks, thats all i can do is to move in the direction.and ur right ,if i go with a prs .do i get a custom,p22,SE,usa,studio,ect.
...i can record to my lap top with zoom, or do i have to get an interface with it. Iam pc illiterate .so its gonna be a big challenge to do what you did.i would like to put on a blues, and metal back track and improvise.show both sides of me.iam know shredder by any means.but you know what thats not my style of playing.yeah i like to play some fast licks, but thats about enough for me. And i always thought you had to play arpeggios fast, that is false,,i seen a lesson of playing them with style ,rather then playing them as fast as u can..anyway thanks bro.G3 ,slip, maggior ,axe....lol.i was just thinking to bad the three of couldn't get together in a studio, and share licks.that would be fun.hey good luck on wed, with band practice...and i hope ur zoom works well for ya.rock em dead.

The new G3 - man I wish... :-). It would be fun to share licks though.

If you connect the Zoom G5 to your PC, it acts as the interface. That's the cool part! You would just need audio recording software. If computers aren't your strong suit, it might help to have somebody help you with that. It's not rocket science, but it can be daunting the first time out. Do you have experience with multitrack recording, like with a Portastudio or anything? If so, that's good because you wouldn't have to overcome those hurdles.

I'm off to the "hard to handle" lesson to start on the first solo. I'm hoping it isn't a slog! Mike O. does the lesson and he breaks it down so even I can get it :-). He's got my back!

I'll keep y'all posted.

Good luck axe on getting setup again!
