I'm 55 and am finally seriously going to learn guitar. I tried 20 years ago but with work and all my other time consuming obligations I never really got off the launchpad.

Now I am retired and have the time to devote to it and I am excited to be here. My inspiration comes from my nephew, who is autistic and after just a year of playing is an amazing guitarist.

Thanks for taking the time to read my intro.

Welcome aboard Gene! There are great instructors here and a very supportive community, so you should have a lot of fun. Once you get some chords and technique under your belt, the selection of song lessons is fantastic.

That's great that your nephew was able to pick up the guitar so quickly. You know you have at least one jam partner :-).

I know 10 or so chords and am studying some music theory to tie it together but I have not yet played a real song. Just some strumming and chords so far.

I had a borrowed guitar but them my brother-in-law moved back to Michigan and the guitar followed him.

My wife bought me a Yamaha FD01S guitar and a case for my birthday and here I am. Ready to go and looking forward to everything you guys and the site have to offer.

I want to start from the very beginning even though I know a few basic chords. I have the time and desire to learn it right the first time.

I will be upgrading to full access very soon. Where\what courses are the absolute beginning or will they be evident once I have full access?

Thanks

Gene
