Ozzy has done a great job surrounding himself with some of the most amazing guitarists over the years. Zakk is unbelievable and does not get enough recognition. Jake E. Lee is overlooked too often - he was stuck between 2 guitar gods (Randy and Zakk). He is a master in his own right. Thanks for sharing!

All of Ozzy's guitarists have superb technique and unique playing ability!

Zakk Wylde probably doesn't get enough recognition because of his style. Personally I like it. The reason I hold him as one of the top guitarists of all time is because he does things I haven't seen others do. His ability is incredible when he plays his guitar while it's angled straight up and down, and even behind is head. But I'm not sure if he can reach the speeds that the elite can reach (John Petrucci for example).

Wow. That was great . Notice he did all that with no trem bar ?

U know, there's another frontman who has done an amazing job recruiting guitar players for as long as Ozzy. He doesn't have the following like Ozzy so they ( the really great guitar players ) never rise to icon satus like Ozzy's do.

Alice Cooper

I may be alone here at GT in my fandom for AC but I've been following him for 40 years and I think there's a lot of great guitar in AC's catalog. If I don't get one AMEN - I'll still believe it. :)

I was just checking out the alumni of Alice Cooper's band over the years:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alice_Cooper_personnel

Kip Winger (bass), that's interesting...
Al Pitrelli - I know him from Megadeth. Definitely a fan.
Derek Sherinian (keys) - Dream Theater!!
Jimmy Degrasso (drums) - another Megadeth alumni!

Interesting for sure ...

The speed that Zakk can play with is insane, and he's not playing legato.

What I hate about videos like this is they feel more like "look what I can do, I'm awesome". In this one he shows you something simple with phrasing. Then he says" once you get it up to speed, it will sound something like this..." and off he goes. The entire subject of how you get it up to that speed is skipped. Like it's insignificant and you can get it down in a few days or something.

And that's the crux of his sound, the speed.

And Axe, you're right about that move by Ozzie - pulling his hair was a complete a$$hole menouvre!

Thanks maggior - I'll take that as a 1/2 amen :)

One of Alice's early guitarists , Dick Wagner , was from my home town in Northern Michigan - I think that's why I've always felt connected with AC.

The last time I saw AC was around 2003 , he had Ryan Roxie then and he put on one of the best "guitar slinger" shows I've ever seen.

Seeing as though you were thoughtful enough to look into my AC assertion ...
do me a favor ( sometime ) and look up a band called CITY BOY and their guitarist Mike Slamer. He is my #1 all-time guitar hero. I have never talked to ANYONE who has heard of them. I'd love it if you could go to their homepage and give a listen to a few of the samples there ... (Cigarettes / Need A Little Lovin'/ Summer in the Schoolyard....) and just share your impression of the guitar work. (avoid the "hits" Hapkido Kid and "5705" - they aren't the best reps of Mikes playing ) .... I have been trying to do "cigarettes" for 30+ years, I wish I could find someone to tab it for me.

No rush - when you got a few minutes to burn.
Thanks- Ken
