um...you should be playing the D Chord with the 1st Finger on the G string, 2nd finger on the High E, and 3rd finger on the B string. Unless you mean D Minor...

E string-2nd fret- 2nd finger
B string- 3rd fret-3rd finger
G string- 2nd fret - 1st finger
your post said that you used your middle finger on the G string, which would be your 2nd finger, so maybe you just have your 2nd finger and 1st finger switched from what they are on mine and everyone elses?
