The one played by your middle finger whne you play a standard D chord.
I gather these things (string numbers)don't always mean the same thing to everyone.

for your last post - Yes this is a D(Maj) chord. Usually the first 4 strings (from the thinnest e string are played),including the open 4th string and....... yes the winding comes off my acoustic strings more,they rub on the frets and are made of softer outer windings than electric strings.
