When strumming fast (e.g. 1/16 notes) the pick tends to "creep" out of my hand. Any suggestions?

You can try different picks that have texture to the upper part for grip and see if that helps. I really believe though that most problems with pick grip come from holding it incorrectly. Regardless of how you hold it, you need to make sure you're getting lots of surface area covered on both sides so that the pick is clamped securely. It doesn't require a lot of grip to hold the pick firm if you're doing it right, but it can just fly out of your hand or move around a lot if you not holding it correctly.

Sgt Tee - that's a good idea.

I use Tortex picks which have a rough texture to the finish without being bumpy. If you pick one up, you'll know what I mean. They are made by Dunlop. This is opposed to the perfectly smooth tortise shell style picks that are common. That helps with the grip.

Yes I know of those picks, but if you prefer a smaller pick or a different design, I had to ruff up and scratch the surface of the pick I am using now called Black Ice

Yea, and I forgot to mention Everly's star picks. Check them out. They also come as jazz picks, which I likey! It's a basic concept but it works :-)

If it's just creeping out of position try sanding the holding area with a piece of sandpaper. It might be just enough to to keep in in place.

I use a small amount of fiddle rosin on my thumb and index finger for a little extra stick.

If you use heavy picks (1mm, 2mm or thicker) strumming fast may cause the pick to go out of position, try different sizes for different styles of playing. For strumming chords try something with a little more flexibility, this way the fast strumming won't knock the pick out of position so much. But don't use a pick thats too thin, as you still want to give a little bit of attack and also control your dynamics and strumming volume.

Another vote for V-Picks! Was using Cool Pics but the V-Picks do what they are intended to do. My playing improved also.
The drawback is they are expensive. Clear is $4 and color is $5 each.
I went for the colored as once I put down a clear pick its tough to find.

I heard about these V-Picks, I am not hip to this new stuff. I have so many picks and I went to a black ice pick which I really like. That's the reason I scuffed them up a little to get a better hold, But I will try this V-Pick and report back

I may need a little help in picking a V-pick out for size. Right now I am using a Black ice 1.10mm made from Planet Waves. its pretty close to size of a Jazz Pick. I stopped using the standard size pick around a year now. Some one here probably can help me pick out a size

Check out their website and you might consider contacting them to help you out. I ordered directly from them.
The small pointed lite may be a replacement to consider. Don't worry if whatever you decide may be a little thicker. I play .75's but could believe how much I love their 1.5 also.

You can also just lop off a big hunk of nail off ur big toe. Great grip and very organic tone.

( also: "cactus" picks - available on e-bay. Best grip I've ever seen and sinfully cheap.)
