I can't believe I'm asking this, but what is a cab? People always use that term when speaking about half stacks, but honestly I don't know exactly what "cab" means.

cab is a speaker CABinet. It break the amp into separate components - your power amp and your speaker cabinet. Amps that have these integrated are "combo" amps.

So, I guess just like we say amp for amplifier, we say cab for cabinet.

It's a bright yellow car that will drive you two blocks for $30. A 4-12 cab is a bright yellow car with (4) 12" speakers in it ... a 2-12 has (2) 12" speakers .. etc :)

Basically it's a speaker. The full name is speaker cabinet, but it'll either be called a speaker cab or cab for short. Your power amp, or amp head is what powers the speaker cabinet. Cheers Mate!
