Hey and thanks in advance for any insight.
I just picked up on old acoustic left in a closet when my oldest son moved out. I figured... What the hell? Needless to say, it is wooped and not worth spending any money on.
So I've been browsing the local music shops looking for a used electric. But I'm not sure which type I should go with... Tele? Strat? SG? Les Paul? I have eclectic taste in music styles.I have been looking at a Jay Turser LP. It's in pristine condition, has EMG pups & Grover tuners. They are looking to get $329 for it. It just feels natural in my hands. Is it worth it?
Thanks again, and btw... I've never touched a guitar before 3 weeks ago.
Merry Christmas

Seriously, the most important criteria of a guitar is does it feel good in your hands. And if you haven't "touched a guitar before 3 weeks ago", it doesn't make any difference if it is a Strat, a Tele, a LP or SG.

Almost all my guitar heroes (Clapton, SRV, etc.) play Strats. So I just knew what I wanted when I started learning would be a Strat. I've got both a Strat and a Les Paul and the latter gets way more playing time from me. This is after a year and a half of trying to learn to play guitar. A year from now that may change.

For now, for trying to learn, just get something that feels comfortable to you. And, very importantly, have a good shop do a set-up on it for you.

Good luck!

Hey mat..... I really appreciate the input. I did put that Jay Turser on lawaway. AND my memory sucks... They only wanted $239. I went back to the guitar shop 2 more times first though. I was probably a royal PIA... spent at least 4 hours pickin & strummin on all the used ones they had. Ultimately, it was the Les Paul style that felt the best & had the nicest tone.
Anyway, thanks again. I hope you had a great holiday & hoping for a prosperous 2014.

I,m looking to purchase a new Masterbuilt Epiphone DR-500MCE acoustic-electric guitar.

Is there anything I should be aware of before making the purchase.

Thanks for the help...
