If I remember correctly, it's a Les Paul studio equipped with the robotic automatic tuning feature.

Hi Erik,

The blue guitar is a 2008 Gibson Robot Les Paul. It's basically a Les Paul Studio with the tuning electronics added. If you're just interested in the basic guitar without the extra tuning stuff, you could grab a studio and save some money.

The Robot guitars show up on ebay and run between $800-$2400 US dollars. The tuning function is great when you're sitting in front of the camera and you need to tune quickly but otherwise I would feel fine without the tuning function. It's pretty fascinating to watch though, you push a button then strike all the strings (open) and the tuning pegs start "whirring" and tuning the guitar, it's pretty cool. :)
