Ford vs. Johnson

I don't know, but sounds like a good match up for the 1st Annual Guitartricks Boxing Invitational.........

sorry, but they are both wimps...
Ford has an awesome phrasing, I love the guy, while Eric is more an the virtuoso side, and he also has a gorgeous tone. But anyways, I think those who's better thread lead usually nowhere...

thanks man, my sound sucks on the track, I play out of tune, out of rhythm, but I guess it's what's cool about it!!

Eric JOHNSON has been labeled the 'best unknown guitarist' before he became ummmmm... famous through the G3, where he crossed necks with VAI and Satch. His style goes from clean bell like tones to violin like phrasing, from country to rock...
Robben FORD has played with miles DAVIS, and plays some kind of blues tinted with Jazz harmonies.
Both players are known for their tasteful phrasing, perfect technique, and they both sing pretty good too. I'd say that this one on one was well chosen indeed.

"Best Unknown Guitarist" is such a better title than
"Worst Known Guitarist", I think Eric Johnson must have the same public relations manager as Allan Holdsworth, both are examples of great talent, greatly unmarketable

Robben ford is much more rawer (is that a word?) then Eric Johnson. Robben takes much more chances and improvises his solos, never plays the same thing twice.
Eric composes everything, including his solos, is very much a perfectionist (he admits this, spending years on one album) and relies much more on effects.
Who's better? I guess it depends on what type of night Robben is having.
Personally I think there both great, but I find Robbens playing a bit more exciting and unprodictable.
