After I been practicing for a few months now and almost gave up hope, I am finally getting better and can actually play a few blues chords with my instructor Lisa. I am really happy and must say I am actually starting to sound a lot better.
Its fun and rewarding, Lisa is great. I would practice even more but I have to let my fingertips heal, lol.
I might be a slow learner, I've been over everything (acoustic lesson for beginners) a million times, but.....I am LEARNING IT!

Good for you!!! It's so gratifying when you get to a point where you are playing *music*!!

I've been playing off and on for 30 years, and I STILL enjoy picking up a guitar an playing through some nice slow 12 bar blues!!

Definitely let your fingers heal. You don't want to injure youself. You'll find that after your fingers heal, you'll have some nice callouses on your fingertips. As long as you play consistently, those callouses should remain and you won't have to go through the pain again. It's like going to the gym - it's painful getting in shape, but that goes away and stays away as long as you remain in shape. Skip the gym for a while, and it becomes painful again :-).

That's awesome Doris! The longer you play, the more you run in to the 'it clicks' moments. So many people would like it to come naturally right off the bat but it doesn't always work that way. Even when it does come a bit naturally, it's not immediate.

Keep up the good work and you will be awesome. Why do I know that? Cuz you stuck with it when you you weren't 'getting it'.
