Hello
Alongside other lessons I'm working on "Warm-up Exercise Playalong, Level 1,2. I've taken a sneak at level 3 and wonder how I will ever be able to get my fingers to stretch and stick/stay on all 4 frets simultaneously. My hands are neither big nor small and I'm struggling to get my fingers to stretch and stay on 3 frets. Lisa with her relatively small hands can do it with ease. How do I get my hands in shape to achieve the necessary finger spread/strength?

Rick, it's just a matter of practice. You'll acquire flexibility and stretch. It doesn't hurt to do exercises to warm up your fingers hands and wrists.
Here is video that Instructor Christopher Schlegel presents

Good luck and keep up the good work.

I have a great stretch and I can tell you how to get it:

Whenever you practice an exercise, start from the frets which are closer together and don't require much stretching. Then slowly work your way up until you reach a point were you cannot proceed as the stretch is too big. In time you WILL develop a better stretch, it's just a question of time.

Don't try things such as placing marbles between your fingers etc. as you can hurt yourself! Just practice on the big frets and give yourself some rest every few minutes and you'll be fine!

i had a hard time with the same thing an also my b maj and b minor. so i put a guitar near my kitchen on a stand so i could randomly pick it up and practice those things in 30 sec intervals as i would walk by like in morning after coffee before work and such. i saved my hard core practice time for the things that i could see more immediate improvement, so i wouldn't get discouraged.
i'm now about 6 months since i first picked up a guitar and this worked for me. i still do this and the wife finally got used to the guitar in the kitchen

hope that helps lol
