I'm a guitar player, and at my age I was getting pretty tired of lugging the big Marshall half-stack around (my body aint as nimble as it used to be). So I sold it, and decided to go the PA route. This is the setup I'd like to use for gigging small clubs.

Shure SM58 microphone
Voicelive2 vocal processor
Line6 Pod HD500X guitar processor
Roland SD-50 Mobile Canavas (for midi backing tracks)
Alesis 12 channel mixer
2 Mackie SRM450V2 speakers
(not sure what to use as a monitor speaker)

The idea here is to simplify the sound setup at the start of a gig, keeping in mind that every venue has different room acoustics.

I play both acoustic and electric.

I would like your opinion on this setup, pro and cons, personal experiences you may have had, etc..

Itchin' to play,

Izzy

Well, I've gone and done it. Sold my Marshall half-stack rig and got myself a powered PA speaker.

I wish I had done this way sooner... I'm finally getting the sounds that I want, without having the tweak the amp like I used to. I have presets programmed in my guitar effects processor, and changing sounds to suit different songs is as easy as pie.

Now the final test will be playing with other musicians, at high volume.

Will keep you posted.

Itchin' to play,
