Hello to everyone,
I always wanted to learn the guitar. I am 57 and I can tell my brain is much slower now, lol. I've been doing this for 2 months now but I still have trouble getting the chords sounding good and to speed things up. I do have some chords memorized. I am learning the acoustic guitar with Lisa McCormick, great teacher.
Any advice out there.....its so hard to do the C chord, then switch to D and G. How long does it take? Maybe I am not talented enough.

Hi Doris,

We love newbies!
How often do you practice?
I found this lesson of Lisa's to be very helpful with chord changes, I'm not sure if you've seen this one or not but you might want to give it a try:

Thank you very much. I think this will be very helpful (I hope).
I practice almost everyday and I just signed up for another year.
But how long does it take to play? I do not want to sing (I absolutely have no voice at all), I just want to pick, blues....things like that.

It's hard to tell someone when they'll be able to play. It depends on how quickly a person picks it up, how often they practice, etc. But if you think of it being "about the journey and not the destination", and practice regularly, I think you find it very rewarding and you'll learn to play. Improvement never ends as long as you're playing and learning something new.

I think Guitar Tricks is the most valuable tool available to beginner guitarists today, and it can take you far.
