Hi everyone I'm Rachel. I love singing. I've been playing on and off for a few years and have written about 18 songs however I need to get better at guitar! I wrote a song about hurricane Sandy and played at 2 benefits and my song was put in an independent documentary about the storm. I came here to work on my technique and get better at my timing. I really want to record the songs I've written so I want to get better at guitar before I do that.

I mostly need to work on strumming/timing. HELP!! i cant seem to grasp it. Its holding me back from playing open mics.

Thanks :)

Hi there, Rachel! We have some great lessons for beginners - such as our Core Learning System curriculum. One easy way to find some lessons on strumming and timing is to type those words into the search field on the site, and you'll get tons of results. Then you can filter them to find the right difficulty level for yourself.

Once you record a few songs, make sure to post them in our Listening Post forum: http://www.guitartricks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=23

We'd love to hear them!

Tons of lesson here to improve your playing.
The forum can get you lots of opinion, but a lot messages will point you to lessons the you can't get to with out being a full member.

If you haven't seen, there is 60 day money back guarantee which will give a good opporunity to see what's here.

Hi Rachel,

Wow, that's awesome! It must feel really good to do something creatively about
the devastation of Sandy. So many feel helpless.

I don't know what level you're at but here is a great lesson on strumming:

You can type "strumming" into our search field for more good stuff.

Rock those open mics!
