Been a member for years, but now I have to pay twice as much for video lessons? Really, I am dropping my membership due to this and bad economy.
Rock on everyone...

Hi ggar1959,

Where did you see this? We haven't raised our subscription fee in quite a while, and that includes everything here.

Could someone clarify this thread? Are there multiple levels of membership for Guitar Tricks now? When I was a full member a while back, I had access to everything... is this no longer the case?

Looks to me like there are 2 membership types, basic and full access. I have full access and have access to all lessons, there does not seem to be an issue.

Being a registered member on GT gives you access to some free lessons/videos.
Being a full access member (paying members) gives you access to everything.
The price has been the same since I enrolled 3 years ago.

Whats bad with internet nowadays is that company will pay people to give bad rep and bad reviews on webpages of there competitors (especially forums) to discourage people from suscribing or buying the product.

The opposite is true too. They pay people to give them Likes on facebook, to write false good reviews to encourage clients to buy.

I'm not saying this is the case here, but it do happens very often. Its hard to trust reviews on the internet. How do we know if its real right?

So just remember to always ask around first and research on the internet before trusting any reviews, posts etc.

+1, Seb.

I just renewed my Full Access membership for what I'm pretty sure is the same price as when I first signed up in 2009...

SebastBerg is correct. Either you have Basic Access, which is always free or you have Full Access which is a paid subscription.

The paid subscription has been the same price for awhile: $14.95/month for the monthly recurring subscription or $129 for the annual subscription.

Sometimes we run promos that drop the price of the annual temporarily, but no lower than $99 for a year.

Hope this clears things up!

I finally got all the notes down to Smoke on The Water and am working out the nuances, a song I wanted to learn how to play ever since it was released but am not gifted enough to learn on my own. The lesson, as the other lessons are, are so detailed, so precise, so inspiring!

Any way you slice it, this is a huge bargain. My playing and ability to learn new songs and compose took off once I started working the routines and the songs on this site whereas on other sites I just stagnated, same thing with college courses and private lessons, went nowhere. And, this site is $5.00 cheaper per month than the last site I joined and hugely cheaper than college courses and private lessons.

Thank you GT guys and gals! Thank you for patiently helping me with my weaknesses to fully utilized my talents! As I learn my favorite songs and work the metronome and lessons, all kinds o' stuff is just leaking out of my fingers, exactly what I envisioned would happen once I got in the presence of like minded musicians!

:D

[FONT=Comic Sans MS] Was thinking about taking private lessons, I not only struggled with the price, but with finding a quality instructor that was a good fit for me. When GuitarTricks offered a year membership for $99.00, I jumped on the deal, and thought I would give it a shot. Best $99.00 I spent all year! Where else can I get quality instruction and convenience at this price?

Benefits:
~ Qualified, professional instructors (Have not found one yet I do not like; some are more clear and precise than others, however. Am guessing this must have to do with the various levels of instruction.)
~ Sound foundational, theory-based instruction
~ Multiple instructors (Love the different personalities; never get bored!)
~ Diversity in teaching and playing styles
~ Instruction across genres!
~ Multi-levels of instruction
~ Can play video lessons over and over again
~ The practice drills are great!
~ Playing along with great musicians makes us better guitarists!
~ Even the beginning courses are never boring (The more I learn, the more I learn I have a lot more to learn and polish!)

Before I started with GuitarTricks I was at a standstill with my playing. Am basically self-taught, but needed encouragement and the confidence to push myself, and explore new territories. Once enrolled, didn't take me long to gain my enthusiasm back for learning guitar. I had not had this enthusiasm for guitar since way back in high school because I did not have the confidence to push myself further. Am now ready to polish up my skills and take my playing to the next level! Problem is, hardly know where to start, because I want to learn it all NOW! Right now I am at the exploring stage, but also taking the time to focus on the core fundamentals and fingerpicking style and strumming skills, since those skills will best benefit me in the short-term. Later on, plan to dig into the rest, especially country, classical, and blues!

Keep up the good work!
Peace ♪•*¨*•.¸¸.•*¨*•

Could not agree more with Ly2sing.

There are many guitar teachers out there ( who will charge you a whole lot more per year of lessons, than GT), but how many have a path of progress set out for you? How many can actually teach? Most think that just because they can play the guitar, that this qualifies them to become teachers. But where is the structure and goal in their teaching?

How often can you ask your face to face teacher to repeat something for you, before you will feel too embarrassed and then struggle along in the hope that you will 'get it' eventually? With GT this is not an issue. You can replay the video or sections of the video until the proverbial cows come home, or you finally 'get it'. You will feel free to do so because nobody cares how often you replay that video, and you need not feel like a dummo.

How often will you have to cancel your face to face guitar teaching lesson because life happens to interfere? With GT it's no problem. Pick up where you left off at any time that suits you.

You just can't beat that for convenience and setting yourself up to reach your goals. At what price annually? It's nothing at all compared to what you get for it. How valuable is it to you to play your guitar well? You do the calculations.

This is the cheapest hobby I have and love it so much that I'd rather do nothing else :D
