I was wondering what other live giggers out there considers a quality sound for PA speakers. I had some great sounding passive Yamaha PA Speakers for years, but decided to update and went wih powered Mackie speakers...mainly for light weight and price. I use the Thump 15s with a QSC sub, and Thump 12s for monitor speakers. After a year of gigs, I am frustrated with the sound...especially with my acoustic guitar. I play a Taylor 714ce that sounds like it is in a box through these PA speakers. I have some great pedals to help my sound, too, but I need a pure sound with a powered speaker, that isn't going to cost me much more. Any ideas?

I have had great results with the JBL's PRX612M 12" 2-Way Active PA Speakers.

The wide dispersion is great for live outdoor venues as well as it has a great reach in width unlike the Mackies. Worth checking out.

hope this helps you out!
