Okay...this is the problem...i've figured out why i cannot play 16th notes (at a normal pace, i don't know the bpm).

It's in my right hand...i'm having trouble tremolo picking as well.

When tremolo picking i always get 2 notes pause 2 notes pause 2 notes etc...

i should play this for example:

12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-----

but i play this:

12-12---12-12---12-12---12-12

i hope you understand me...

i hope someone can give me some advice or good excercises for right hand speed improvement and tremolo picking.

thanks,
- Vertigo

You might have a problem with your alternate picking. Do you pick alternating all the time?

Practice alternate picking with chromatic scale patterns, and try to pick all notes when you play arpeggios (assuming that you sweep them instead of picking them note to note)

And ofcourse, tremolo excersises are great when you want to improve your right hand technique but try them for example like this:

D----------------------------------------12-12-12-12
A---------------------12-12-12-12
E-12-12-12-12-
and so on..
And ofourse in triplets as well because when you pick alternating you must pick every string from a different direction.

Hopefully that's any help.. :)

It's natural that speed tends to come in short bursts like that at first. I would guess that it's simply a matter of practice practice practice. Enough practice enables you to reach the speed of these "bursts" in a consistent tempo.

Maybe I've got the wrong idea. How much do you practice?

Play something at 60 BPM, using alternate picking.

Increase slowly, that's the deal...

Now here's an advice even for monster players: play something slow, but only using downstrokes... ,Increase, only using downstrokes. When you alternate pick again, you'll have improved your speed and technique a lot...
