1960 - Walk-Don't Run = the Ventures (graduated 8th grade that year)
The Ventures first three or four albums were mostly original 3 guitar-1 drum music. Walk-Don't Run, Perfedia and others like Rawhide were remakes but they fit the genere of The Ventures.

1978 - Chicago Transit Authority - Best sounding and instrumentized group.
Many great originals by members and being musically trained, they wrote great original songs. Early four albums were slow starters but Peter Cetera as lead singer/bass made the sounds great for many albums.

All the afore mentioned had great guitar parts for the early years of guitar licks.

Speaking of the ventures, I have an old Mosrite guitar. Guess the Ventured played Mosrite.

Hmmm. 8th grade in 1960. That puts me two years behind you. (I graduated in 66). So you are just a little older!

I can remember listening to the Ventures on the radio working bean fields here in the Midwest.

And I just watched Chicago on Palladia the other day. Great great group and good to know they are still touring.

Lots people that aren't young here....Ok, I was born around the time you were in high school but doesn't make me a youngin' ;)

...AND...I love these artists. Walk, Don't Run...c'mon...was a definitive song for guitarist.

I love Chicago too...is one of those bands you can just chill on a summer day with.
