Queen introduced me to Rock on July 21, 2018. I was on my way back from Florida and had just woken up from a long nap when i heard the beginning of the song. My mom turned it off at the 'Mama Just Killed a man..." part but i was hooked. I googled the lyrics and listened to it when i got home.

For the next few months i listened to tons of Queen and in March of 2019 i watched Wembely '86 and that inspired me to to tons of chores to buy my own electric guitar.

The fact that i could've slept through those few seconds on July 21,2018 is insane to me. I can't imagine what my life would be like if i had but i'm guessing i wouldn't be on a guitar website with classic rock radio playing in the background

The Beatles. Up to that time I wasn't really exposed to much music except on Sunday nights when my parents watched the Lawrence Welk Show and I would think "Why are these young people smiling and dancing to such horrible music?". In the 4th grade my best friend asked me to listen to a record he bought, it was The Beatles "I Want To Hold Your Hand". I couldn't get enough of that song and would call him toasked him to play it for me.Little did I know, the four lads were at thecusp of their break up. I knew nothing of the Beatles but I wanted more. Still thinking they were the mop tops I then would hear songs like "Penny Lane" and "Hey Jude" and thought they changed overnight. From that point on I loved the pop and rock music and started to listen more bands. Then the tipping point to my absolute love to the genre was my first concert... KISS. The stage show was a sensory overload and I was hooked from then on.

That is a great story. So recent and so specific! You must be quite young? Shame on your mom for turning it off in the middle of the song - I will usually sit in the car until the song ends if I happen to arrive at my destination while it is playing.[br][br]

I think even if you had slept through that moment you would almost certainly have encountered Bohemian Rhapsody at some point, but who knows if it would have hit you the same way?

It takes as long as it takes unless you quit - then it takes forever and you will never get there.

When I was 12 (91) , me my brother and our neighbour/best friend used to go skateboarding every evening and I had a little alba double deck tape player. Needles to say we had nevermind and ten playing every evening!

That was the start to it all...

I knew I wanted to play the guitar the second I finished listening to the solo of sweet child o mine. other influences include AC/DC, Beatles, Van Halen.

I like some songs which mix blues or more like electrify a blues play. Eric clapton is a massive inspiration. BB King has some cool music too.

Sadly for me it was KORN I can't stand them now but when I was 10 they introduced me many bands that were so much better, next in line was nirvana who I still love.

While I enjoy a wide range of popular music, it was the singer songwriters of the late 60`s and 70`s that really turned me on to the acoustic guitar. John Denver, Jim Croce, America, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Jimmy Buffet etc.

It is hard to call the band that presented me to rock. I think it is Metallica and Pink Floyd. I started listening to hard rock and metal genres music from these two bands. But old cowboy songs on the radio were the impetus as well as old radio stations such as KCBS, KUOM, and others, you can see such radio stations here https://swinginwest.com/history/oldest-radio-stations/ if you are interested.

I was raised in a house with stones, the who and Beatles but when I heard the riff for black dog one day I headed down to the guitar shop. Hendrix soon followed and guitar based anything has ruled my ears ever since.
