Hierarchy?
what is the whole hierarchy for the title of the members? and how many posts does it require to be at each level? or is it more than the posts?

it's not really a heirarchy, rather just different levels of membership

To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Yeah, we figured that, but how do you progress up it?

It's the number of posts for the 'members' you become moderator when you have a forum to look after, (usually it's Jon BRODERICK that decides who gets to be one, usually it's an active member that's been there for 6 months, and that has a pretty good knowledge of the topic). 'Hosts' are voted for when you send an application to the site. The whole hosts boards accepts or declines your membership. As for the grizzled veteran, you gotta post around 1100 posts...

Cheers for that, thought thats how it worked. Don't you get assholes just puttin up pointless posts just to improve they're rankin?

Well, as you will see, the actual 'ranking' really isn't about the number of posts (otherwise I'd be worshipped just like Rask) but about what you put in them...

Not usually. There was one dude once... long time ago. I doubt anyone here has been around for that long with the exception of maybe rask or trendkillah or some of the other vets-... but there was this guy named josh_underwood.... got something like 300 posts in a couple weeks. He would create pointless new topics all the time just for more posts.

It took me about three, maybe even four years now to rack up this many posts. As message boards go, this one is fairly slow at accumulating posts and high on content.
I have almost twice as many posts on Clutch's message board and it's taken me less than a year to make them. The difference? There's a lot more BS (of all kinds) on that board.

ah, I was just curious. I really don't mind what my current "status" is. I just like the site. And I do think that some people would post things of no relevance just to jack up their post numbers. Thanks for the information though.

Hey, do we worship Rask now? Not bloody likely! :D

That's because I can play tapped harmonics on top of chords on a fretless bass and you're jealous.
Hehehehe, I wish...
(about the "Jealousy" part)
