That's why I learned english. I was born in the province of Quebec in Canada. We speak french and we are fighting to keep it that way. The only thing is that Canada has two national languages which are french and english.

I wanted to learn english so I could speak the same language as my fellow canadians and understand what Pamela Anderson says in Baywatch! Come to think of it, the show was better when I didn't understood a word... :)

A lot of french canadian feel like they are threated like immigrates in their own country since English is gaining a lot of ground in Quebec with the arrival of immigrates.

Just think about it, let's say you're born in the US and you can't get served in english at the store! That's the social war I was talking about earlier.

I don't have a problem with it since I speak both languages but there better not be someone telling me I can't speak french in my own town. That would tick me off a bit.
