You may just need to steel wool the contact...easier said than done.

The RG1570 is an HSH pick-up set up, right? Does the 4th toggle position (Neck and Middle pick-up selected) work? Meaning that your getting that H and S mixed sound. Just want to be sure it is not the neck pick-up itself.
