When surfing the net I find little that is more disruptive or aggrvating than video ads that start up automatically when I open a site's page. It hits me particularly hard 'cause during my morning surfing I usually have many tabs open at the same time and it takes a while to go back through 'em to find the offender.
I'm not alone in this aggravation. Some weeks ago the Weather Channel started an automatic run of (primarily) news videos. They were loud, unwanted and PO'd a lot of people. So many, in fact, that in discussion posts the WC apologized and told folks how to turn the vids off.
These kind of 'intrusions' hardly engender good will and I can't imagine they bring in many new customers. GT may be well advised to temper such ad use or forgo it all together.
"It takes a lot of devotion and work, or maybe I should say play, because if you love it, that's what it amounts to. I haven't found any shortcuts, and I've been looking for a long time."
