Hi All Like many, I have decided to learn a new hobby and was given a guitar for Christmas. Fingertips are raw since the 25th. Will post later to let you know how I'm doing. in harmony jim

You will get through it. When I first started off, I would sit every night for quite a long time with my fingers dug into the 1st string so that they would harden up faster!! hahaha.. it's best to just go ahead and get it over with!
Yes, it does get better with time - and yes, it hurts in the beginning. Ouch!
Sometimes I play my guitar left handed for a minute just to remind myself what ti feels like to push those strings down with fingers that are not yet broken in. Helps me remember what you are going through!
Hang in there - and good for you! Happy New Year - Lisa

Hi Gym, Know what you mean about raw fingers - mine are gradually getting better after about six weeks playing an hour or so most days. Stick to it - it WILL get better. Good luck. George
