good god, no, not new, it's an '81 924 turbo. i'm the third owner. the first one abused it, the second had it sitting in a garage for three years untouched.
it's a project car.
and as for any smart-ass comments about using the porsche to get laid etc (somebody must have some): i got it because it was cheap. really really cheap, and it needs *lots* of work. i want a car that i can be proud of. this will be a great little car when i'm done.

Congrats man.

I got one of those "Project Verhicles" too, except I've got to drive it around, or I can't get to work.

"I've seen ones in dire need of repair for about $900US. Most of them by now have nasty oxidized paint and natty interiors."

oh, so you've seen my car eh? it cost me $1500, with the stock engine and also a chevy v6 2.8L... it ain't much to look at right now lol, it actually looks like crap but under all that grease and old paint and shredded upholstery and worn out engine and...well you get the idea - there's a nice car under there, just waiting to be returned to it's past glory.

those ignorant 911 owners who look down on the 924 are just so caught up in what their car is that they forget what it is to love a car. they just like the ego boost it gives them. don't get me wrong - i'll be damn proud of my car when it's done - the difference is that my car will take a month of full time work to restore and when i'm done i'll know every bolt, every nut that went into it.

a car to last the rest of my life i hope.
