A good tech can set almost any guitar to play great with really low action...personally I don't like my action too low because I pick pretty hard...

You would probably be really surprised at how high some heavy guitar players' action is set. If you're wanting to play speed metal solos... sure, you want low action. If you're wanting to play in drop tunings and chug power chords... you're going to want heavier gauge strings and higher action. Try searching "lower action" on the forum search. This is one of those topics that always comes up.

Lower action can make playing certain things easier, but in my opinion... It usually comes with its fair share of downfalls. Like fretting out on certain bends or general fret buzz on random spots of the fretboard or if you dig in and pluck too hard. I have never been that gentle with a guitar... I usually take the "grab by the neck and beat it into submission" approach.
