Yes, you will need to know the names of the notes.

As Jon mentioned above you should start with Guitar Fundamentals 1.

That course will teach you all the basics you need to know in the right order. Then, work your way though to Guitar Fundamentals 2.

Having said that, learning all the note names is something you don't do in one lesson! :) You learn a little bit each day. Take the notes of the E string one day. Practice memorizing them. Move to the B string the next day.

This is something that will take time to commit to memory, so take your time. The more you practice & review the material the easier it will be to memorize & recall the info. But you definitely need to learn specific skills & information in a specific order. Otherwise, you will just get confused & frustrated!
