Hi Folks,

I've bought few years ago a tab for guitar. The issue is that the tab is not in standard guitar tab but in "standard" classical partition, like piano. Is there a way to convert it in tab guitar?

Thanks for the tip.

You'd have to tab it out yourself, or have someone do it for you.

Uhm ok thanks for the reply.

My question is.... when you're reading a C in a "classic" tab, where should you play it on the fretboard? There are so many C in the fretboard....

Do you have any website or suggestion to learn how to convert it from classic to guitar?

Thanks.

Hey Gibono..
Try playing with the Scale finder and Chord finder tool..
Here is a web site for blank tab chart..

You need to learn and understand how to read music. That's a huge thing to tackle, so not really something that we can just explain to you here and have you know enough to transcribe that music you have. Just start Googling "how to read music" and start from the beginning.

Ok sure I agree.

I don't want to be arrogant here but I've learn piano during 6 years and I know how to read music. That's not the question.... my question is more.

I'm reading a C in the notation tab (I call it here "classic tab"), where should I play it on the fretboard? E string fret number 8 or A string fret number 3 or D string fret number 10, ..... ?

Thanks again... maybe I'll use guitar pro and try to find the correct tablature...

Without seeing the sheet music you have, I can't really tell you. Sometimes it's written which position to be in, other times you just have to use logic. Which C does it sound like and where is the easiest place on the fretboard to play it?

Since you said you know piano and can read music, this part should make sense to you. Middle C on the guitar is on the B string, first fret. Guitar sheet music written in the treble clef is usually written one octave higher than the actual pitch. So the pitch you play, is an octave lower than what is actually written.

Excellent thank you for the info.

I'll try to post the tab (if it's allowed in the forum) and maybe you can give me some details.

Thank you again for the time and the info.

Have a nice day.

Pretty sure it's allowed. Is it a link, or a picture you have to scan? Either way, post it if you get a chance.
