Problems with barring 9 chords

When playing 9 chords in the 6th string voicing my index deadens the 2nd string and I'm not able to get the full benefit of this voicing. Especially in fast changes. Any tips would be appreciated?

When you say 9 chords, are you talking about chords like this?
