Hi Guy's, Just reached 49 and I've done something i always wanted to do but never got around to...........bought a guitar !
I've joined GT as I wanted somewhere to learn at my own time and pace and i love it, so i just thought I'd say "HI" as I will probably be using the forum alot
I've just started with Lisa on the warm up exercises trying to get my left hand working, which to be honest i seem to have fingers twice the thickness of the instructors and a wrist that doesn't want bend as theirs does either !!
Any helpful tips will be greatly received

Welcome to the site.
I would suggest you to start with Guitar Fundamental 1.

Hi Nala,

Great to be working with you!
Don't worry if your hands can't make every stretch and move right now - just do your best and try to advance little by little.
I've taught hundreds of students, with all manner of big and tiny hands and everything in between.
Eventually you'll gain more stretch and strength as you stick with the exercises, I promise!

Be well - Lisa

Hi Alan,

It's different for everyone - but what is most important is frequency.

In other words, even a few minutes a day is better than a weekend marathon with nothing in between.

As far as what and how to practice, have you checked out the Art of Practice section on the site? You might find a good structured program to latch onto for a while in there.

Hey Alan,

Can you be more specific about which notes, which strings, are not sounding right? Or, even better, shoot me a little video with your phone and send it to me at LisaMcC@me.com: a close up of your hand playing the C chord. Strum it so I can hear it. Describe the problems. I'll see if I can determine anything that might be helpful to you.
Not to worry - help is on the way!
