looks like the right guitar,,just keep working at the technique. A little distortion really helps too. Do you ever listen to Bad Company or the Rolling Stones? Both Mick Ralphs and Keith Richards are great at the technique.
Use a light touch at first then gradually you will learn to increase pressure as you need to.
