I am trying to pick out a solo to "People Get Ready" in the style of Jeff Beck.

I have some basic tab and I can pick out the tune but I am confused about which scale I can use to improvise over the chords.

As far as I can tell it is played in D. Should I be playing a Dm Pentatonic scale or a D major pentatonic?

Or does Beck re-tune to some other tuning..

Here is the chord progression I am following.
________________________________
D Bm7 G A D
People get ready, there’s a train a’comin’

D Bm7 G G D
You don’t need no baggage, you just get on board,
etc ...................

great song and great solo.

You should be able to pick out all the notes in the solo via D major pentatonic scale. Start in the 7th fret position.

The last higher notes at the end of the solo target D major chord tones above the 12th fret:
15th fret b string
14th fret g string
17th fret e string

Hope this helps, have fun!

oh yeah, this video gives some of it away:
