How exactly exactly do i do this? I tried to use my tuner, i tried to tune the 6E string and set the tuner to 4D, and tuned it there, but it makes the string so tight and throws the others way out of tune, and I wouldnt think the string needed to be that tight! Im not sure if im doing it right. Thanks in advance!

One other easy way of getting 'Drop D' tuning is to fret your 6th string at the 12th fret and then tune it to your open 4th string. Now when you release it you will have DADGBE with the D's an octave apart.

I fret the 6th sting at 7 and match it to the 5th string open.
