It would be great if it was possible on the Guitartricks "Ultimate Scale Finder", which I do love, to tune a string to the desired pitch when working with notes and chords in a different tuning range. I often work with the 6th string tuned down to a D note, or lower, and it would be helpful to be able to do the same on the Scale Finder to be able to see what the notes are in that tuning range.

Let me know if that is possible, otherwise I am hoping that someday it will be.

Thanks,
BL

Maybe I dont understand the question but there is several tunings you can use with Guitar tricks tuner. You can also use the plus or minis for each note that you are tuning. Off to the left you can scroll down the window and changed the tuner to lets, say Drop D. I hope this helps

Yes I just came back form the tuner and you can move each note down or up as you wish, check it out, little plus sign and minis signs under each tuning peg

If you tune to drop D, the notes on the 6th string would be 2 frets lower than in standard tuning. When going through scales, just think 2 frets lower for notes on the 6th string. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks Guys for the replies but... I still can't see any way of being able to tune the 6th string down to a D.

Sgt Tee... I don't find what you had said can be done on the "Scale Finder".
I don't see any Plus or Minus signs you had mentioned under each tuning peg. You do mean tuning keys right? Tuning pegs and tuning keys are not to be seen when I have "Scale Finder" open. On my "Scale Finder" page the neck goes only as far as the nut! The window doesn't open any more than showing the guitar nut with open E down to the fifteenth fret. Would it have anything to do with using Safari browser or am I doing something incorrect when viewing the page?

Sgt Tee - Thanks for your consideration!

I now take interest, and strongly suggest, the "Scale Finder" offer the tuning keys on the guitar neck with a +/- icon under each tuning key allowing each string to be altered in half step tones. Jimi Hendrix often played in an Eb while Black Sabbath and other musicians and bands would tune even lower. I know the notes could be calculated but being able to tune down and see each note per fret as a reference would be "much" more helpful.

I, myself, am going to layout a guitar neck, in a graphics application, with the strings tuned down to D, and print it out for use as reference. I am usually tuned down to D for most of my songs which pertain to Heavy Metal.

If anyone needed/wanted a copy of my tuned down layout just let me know and I'd be happy to upload to you!

Thanks again for your suggestions!
