My Strat is 2yrs old, the nut appears to be fine. I installed Locking Tuning Pegs to end string rap around, sort of like having locking nuts with a Floyd Rose. They work well, I usually change strings often but haven't lately, I admit they are old and dull. I'm thinking the strings lose their ability to stay in tune once they are old??? I love to use the tremola, but lately every time I use it my guitar get thrown out of tune. Thinking a string change is imminent but a friend said the springs might be worn out. Thanks for any input.
