Im hopeing that someday i can play the lead part in some songs useing these scales/ can anyone help me? Thanks

Hi bcguy.. Well what you are doing is what i started out doing, learning with the pentatonic scale, ive only been playing a few months so there's no danger of me going to blind you with guitar playing science ;-)

so if you have learned the scale, the next step is to get yourself some backing tracks, dont know what music you like but with the scale you have learned, that is ideal for blues, rock too,and others but blues is a lot slower and easier to play with at first.

try this one, click on the MP3 player and play with the Backing track, there are loads of others in the player to have a go at.

just listen to the beat and just play your scale over that, try to play the notes in different orders to make a nice riff and just keep playing over making it up as you go along still using the notes in the scale.

Hope that makes sense

Im only using the pentatonic scale myself, just comes natural for some reason and it can sound really nice with a bit of practice..
here is a video i recorded when i had only been playing for a very short time, just making it up as i went along.

this is my latest video of me practicing playing standing up, "tip when you are playing sit down to do it cos its a lot harder stood up for some reason".. still playing i believe the same scale, so you can even play to well known tunes with that scale..

you can get the backing track to that if you want to have a go here..

;-) keep plucking and have fun....
