Personally, CDs are so damn expensive then I simply can't afford to satisfy my musical thirsts, so I have to turn to the 'net (morpheus and kazaa). Sometimes if there is an album that I know I'm really going to cherish, I'll shell out the money. Although, I find that most music stores today have NO selection! It's pathetic. Besides the giant top 40 racks, they have very little. I went to buy Vai's alien love secrets and they didn't have it, in fact they didn't have anything by Vai.
How do you get your music?
Does anyone actually purchase CDs anymore? Do you? Or do you burn your own music off the internet. Or a combination of both? Let's hear people's views on how to aquire music in the 21st century.

I think burning is wrong, I always buy, and if I can't afford it, well then like most other things I go w/out it.

I try get some recommendations from people before I buy, but I always buy. Even if I have to wait for something to hit the sales bins, or show up in the second-hand shops.

i always buy the cd's of bands that i support - if it's just a band that i want to have a listen to, i download some mp3s first.

Burned albums from Mp3's sound ****e. Unless you have high qality mp3 but they take hours to get. I usually just buy albums but when money is tight I just buy an album, burn and exchange it. Its a win-win situation. :)

I buy when I can, but I download a lot.
The main thing now is that I don't end up with one-hit-wonder-bands.
I buy a lot less cd's but I know I'm gonna like them.
It also made me discover great bands that I never would have if not by mp3's.
I might have 20 cd's of mp3's but I always end up listening to the same cd's I bought. Go figure!

led you don't have cable? It's great! You can get a 3 meg song in about 10 seconds (depending on your connection of course).

I can't even get cable TV here, and forget DSL.
As for mp3s: I'll download songs that bands post or a song or two if somebody wants to make me check a band out.
Outside of that, I buy. I like having the actual disc and the cover art. I do however make copies of my favorite CDs and bring those out into the world with me (incase of theft or other catastrophies).

i usually always buy as well except if the band only has one good song and i don't want the rest of the album i'll either buy a single or burn it onto a compilation cd of all my fav **** at the time and my compilation CDs have 90% my own **** with maybe only 1 or 2 songs at the most that ive downloaded.
if you just burn CDs your collection looks positively dodgy and i like to pride myself on my growing CD and Music DVDs collection so i don't like to burn a whole lot of ****.
a cd collection should be something that looks good to visitors and friends and **** if its all burnt it looks crap
just my opinion
