I'll tell you how the Artifitial and natural work.
Little hard to explain just by typing though.

Natural-

Gently touch either the 3,5,7,9,12 fret,of any string, any of the position markers will do, a pick very lightly while at the same time lifting your finger off of the string. REmeber touch the string, don't press the string to the fretboard.

In the 12 fret harmonic, the two octives HARMONIZE and make the sound of the fret where your finger touched, and that goes for all of them.

It takes time but you'll figure it out.

Artifital Harmonic-

THese are really hard to explain just by writing.

Say for instance you fret the 5 fret.

With your picking hand, take the pick and position it with your thumb and middle fingers.LIne you thumb and middle fingers perfectly with your index.

Using your index finger, touch the 17 fret, don't touch the string to the fretboard, just touch the string at the 17 fret.

THen with your thumb/middle fingers (the ones that are holding the pick) pick the string behind your index finger that is touching the string at the 17 fret, just remember to let off of the string as soon as you pick

THis is the best I can explain it without talking to you face to face.
Hope it helps, but if it doesn't, you'll have to get some one that knows the technique to show you face to face.
When attempting the impossible, you achieve the best possible

One thing you want to remember though. Don't just stick to the 3, 5, 7, 9, and 12th frets for natural harmonics. If you can try to get harmonics on the whole guitar neck.

Yeah Johan i think i got the point,
i do this trick alot, when i'm improvising
i just didnt know it's called that way ...

by the way another thing i'm not sure what i supposed to do with is alternate picking
why do you mean by this??
striking the strings with a pick up and down?? like
e-----5-7--
b--5-7-----
g-8--------
du du d

Pinch Harmonics is almost the same thing as Natural and Artificial Harmonics. But to trigger the sqeal(harmonic) in pinch harmonics you play a tone with the pick and hold the left side of the thumb inline(behind) with the edge of pick.
So when you pick the tone the tumb should detonate the harmonic a milisec after the pick has left the string.
This ain´t easy to explain so if you don´t get it(You probably won´t cause there is not enought words to explain it, at least I don´t know them), have someone that knows the technique to show you.

Yeah, that's what alternate picking is.

When doing single string stuff, I think everyone will agree, you can't play extremely fast without alternate picking. So if you don't use that technique and you want to play fast, I recommend learning it.

I think that's it. Take care.
