Clone Pedals!

I just found out about Clone pedals...does anyone here build their own clone pedals and how do they compare to the originals? Are they worth it?

I have built one of the kits from byoc (overdrive 2). Never owned a TS 808 so I can't compare it to the original, however I do like the pedal. I have a tendency to change out pedals a lot. That and my crybaby (that is pretty heavily modified) are about the only two I don't change out. No clue how it compares to the original though so I can't help you there. Do you have any soldering experience/equipment? If you know what you're doing with a soldering iron, the kits aren't too bad to build.

Thanks for your input. The OD2 is the exact one I'm looking at, but no experience whatsoever with a soldering iron. But I just love a challenge. I heard it on youtube and up to me it does sound good.

Definitely a nice sounding pedal. I use it more than about any other pedal I have. Here's a video of how mine sounds. Signal chain is guitar -> od2->tc electronic nd-1 -> mesa boogie mk i set clean. Try to look past the vocals and bad soundman. Lots of alcohol was involved. About 1 minute in is when I step on the od2 drive switch. About 2 minutes in I step on the od2 boost switch. About 2:34 is where I forgot to turn off the boost switch :P

Impressive solo...Yea the OD2 is just totally awesome, you've just convinced me that this is the way for me to go...one day I'll play like that. How long you've been playing?

Just saw the reply. Haven't logged on in a while. I've been playing for about 36 years now. Still learn new stuff all the time though, and have a ton I need to improve on.
